Dear Friends
In the past 2 weeks I’ve had so many wonderful nature encounters. I just had to tell you about them. Read on to get to that but first…

Hedgehog and Nature Encounters
Whilst driving back from West Malling I saw a small brown creature waddling across the pavement. At first I thought it was a squirrel, as I got closer I realised it was a Hedgehog! I just couldn’t believe it. I haven’t seen one since I was a little girl. As I drove past I carried on watching it in my rear view mirror, and then grimaced as I saw it start crossing the road. I quickly pulled over and then waved at oncoming traffic which slowed down to let the little critter past. He crossed safely!!! How did the hedgehog cross the road? With the help of Laura Lamn haha
I would like to see more hedgehogs. If you have a garden the Hedgehog Preservation Society has some great tips for how to keep your garden Hedgehog friendly.

A few days before I took a walk up the hill near my home and saw three black and white birds of prey. They were swooping, diving and making loud and delightful whooping calls. After a bit of research I concluded they were juvenile buzzards. Later in the week I wandered near my home and saw a bird of prey perched up in a tall tree. As it flew I took a photo (see below). I think it’s another buzzard. There is something so awe inspiring about birds of prey. They glide and soar with such grace and presence.
PLUS in the last two weeks I’ve seen three deer crossing the road and two foxes. It’s quite incredible!
I was listening to an interview with Craig Foster (creator of the amazing Netflix film, The Octopus Teacher). When discussing building a connection with Nature Craig said;
“But even on a simple level, if you just start to look at a small area where there are few insects and maybe a few birds, maybe one or two amphibians, and you start to just take notes and observe every day, just, say, for half an hour. And after a while, you’ll be absolutely shocked at what you couldn’t see before. It’ll be like so obvious and it was totally invisible to you before. It’s like, “Can’t believe I missed all these things.”
This is exactly how I feel about the nature around me. As I’ve started to devote more time to watching and listening it feels like little miracles unfold before me. For example, this week I noticed that the Cleavers plant that I pick daily to make a herbal tea is coming into flower. The flowers are teeny tiny, four petaled, and beautiful.
In my work as a Singing Mamas leader, I just love my job to normalise singing. I cook, I clean, I exercise, I sing. All just normal day to day stuff. I sent fellow leader Grace McGeoch a new song I wrote and she sang it at her Crouch End group and the song came to life;
I get so inspired by my friends! I love following my friend Marcus Hessenburg who used to film and direct my music videos in London. He’s got into painting and he is just amazing! Look at these paintings.
I’m currently editing my new Smocking Class for Skillshare. My laptop is a bit old and can’t handle the videos I film on my iPhone, so I do all editing on my phone. I use iMovie for part of the editing, and for the more finickity bits I use LumaFusion.
That’s all for now
Hope you have a beautiful weekend and nature talks to you
LOVE ALWAYS WINS
